Phillip was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Laurel, to Mary Elizabeth (Frank) and Phillip Fox, one of eight children. Phillip married Pauline Fox in Laurel, Jan. 16, 1939. Phillip started first grade in 1917 at the Byam School south of Laurel. He moved with his family to a farm north of Laurel in 1918. Read More	LAUREL — Phillip Fox, 97, passed away on Dec. 7, 2009, due to natural causes. Phillip was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Laurel, to Mary Elizabeth (Frank) and Phillip Fox, one of eight children. Phillip married Pauline Fox in Laurel, Jan. 16, 1939. Phillip started first grade in 1917 at the Byam School south of Laurel. He moved with his family to a farm north of Laurel in 1918. He finished the eighth grade at the Sunny Valley School north of Laurel. He farmed north of Laurel on the same farm the rest of his life. His son, Harvey, farmed alongside him since 1958. He was still driving a tractor just six weeks before his death. Phillip was a self-taught mechanic and could make almost anything out of iron. He was a successful farmer and enjoyed all aspects of farming, especially driving tractors and combining with an air-conditioned cab. Phillip was also a longtime board member of the Cove Ditch. Phillip is survived by three children, Harvey (Melody) Fox of Laurel; Annette (Charles) Kritzler of Hopkins, Minn.; and Darrell (Cindy) Fox of Laurel. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Darsow of Chaska, Minn.; Kristine (Jeff) Scherff of Houston; Tiffany (Pete) Oliva of Incline Village, Nev.; Denise (Brock) Smith of Tumwater, Wash.; Heidi (Jeffrey) Boser of Ramsey, Minn.; Bradlee Fox of Billings; and Cameron Fox of Laurel. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Cole Scherff, Riley Smith, Elaina Smith, Reese Smith, Kaia Darsow, Caden Boser and Alexandra Oliva; brother Herman (Irene) Fox of Billings; sister-in-law Margaret Fox; and brother-in-law Jake Fox of Red Lodge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; sister Lydia Gratwohl; brothers, Henry and Conrad. Three infant brothers and one sister also died in infancy. He was also preceded in death by infant granddaughter, Renee Fox. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Evergreen Laurel Health and Rehab Center, who provided loving care for Phillip the last month of his life. Phillip's family would be honored to have your presence at the funeral service on Friday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m., at the Laurel Congregational Church. A lunch will be served following interment at the Laurel Cemetery.
