Phillip was born April 18, 1928, in Laurel, the son of Phillip H. and Mabel (Ruff) Michael. He grew up on farms in the Yellowstone Valley. On Nov. 6, 1948, he married Irene Kukes in Laurel, and they made their home in and around Laurel until settling in Park City in 1953. Phillip worked the majority of his life in the lumber industry, first in lumberyards, and later owing and operating Michael's Construction Co. His leisure time was spent fishing, hunting and camping with his children and in later years, his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irene of Park City; and three children, Dennis, currently of Ft. Bliss, Texas, Randy (Tracey) Michael of Billings and Diane Michael of Park City; grandchildren Kimberly (Jesse) Benson and daughters Kyra and Kayden of Boyceville, Wis., Bethany Taylor, stationed with the Navy in Goosecreek, S.C., Jordan and Jacob Michael, both of Billings; special grandchildren Richard (Kim) Flemmer and children Kaitlyn, Brandon and Megan of Billings, Lauri (Joel) Mikesell and son Ian of Abilene, Texas, and Leslie (Josh) Zook of Billings. He is also survived by three brothers, Jacob of San Leandro, Calif., Edward of Park City and William of Billings; four sisters, Mary Krug and Rosie Michael of Laurel, Lydia (Henry) Uffelman of Hardin and Martha (Marvin) Stricker of Basin, Wyo.; and one brother-in-law, George Schuman, Sr. of Sheridan, Wyo.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and George; and sisters Molly Schuman, Pauline Walters, Elizabeth Leikam and Esther Michael. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery in Billings, with interment to follow at the Park City Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Park City Schools Athletic Dept.
