His death came as a shock, although he had been ailing for a few days. His condition was not, however, believed serious. The immediate cause of death was a heart attack. Death came at age 48, at 4 P.M., at his home in Brooklyn. Phillip, the son of the late Charles E and Nellie A Carpenter, was born at the home place west of Nashua, July 18, 1903. He was one of a family of 12 children and his death caused the first break in this family chain. He attended country school, and attended Nashua High School, graduating in 1923. He married Bernice Noah on June 8, 1929, at Rockford, Iowa. Two children were born to them, a son, Phillip Jr., now 16, and a daughter, Joyce, 12. The wife and children survive. Phil was well known throughout this region. He had been a mason work contractor for 25 years and a fine craftsman. He was a member of the Methodist church and had been on the school board for two years. He took a leading part in many other community activities. Those who mourn his death, in addition to his immediate family, are: five brothers, Guy, Clarksville; Howard, New Hampton; Arthur, Round Lake, Ill; Roy, a Major in the Army, now stationed in Memphis,Tenn,; and Winton, of Nashua; Six sisters: Mrs. A.E. Eckhoff (Mabel), Charles CIty; Mrs. Carl Ferch, (Margaret), Ionia; Mrs. Reinhault Krumrey, (Alice), Nashua; Mrs. Peter McMullen (Clara) Auburn, WA; Mrs. Curtis Taylor (Florence), St Ansgar; Mrs. Gordon Mills (Blanche), Waterloo; a half sister, Mrya Bachelor, Petoskey, Mich; two half brothers, Frank, Fort Collins, Colo., and Charles of Cusick,Wash., and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, the Rev E. C. Allen officiating. Once again, the church filled to overflowing. Mrs. Oscar Wagner, Mrs. CA Hoon, Mr. Hoon, and Dale Fritcher, with Mrs. Edna Chenoweth accompanying, provided vocal music. Mrs B. F. Teft and Mrs. Bryan Conley were in charge of flowers. Burial was at the Greenwood cemetery. Casket bearers were Howard, Guy, Roy, Arthur and Winton Carpenter, and Howard Noah. The Nashua Reporter, Thursday, April 3, 1952,
