Beardsley, 83, passed away at 11:30 Thursday morning at the home on West Main street. He had been in failing health for some time but was confined to his home less than two weeks. He fell asleep at midnight last week Friday and remained in a conscious condition until his spirit departed. Deceased was born in Canfield May 20, 1841, a son of Philo and Lois Beardsley, early residents of this township, and most of his life was spent in this neighborhood and at Andover, where he followed farming. He served throughout the civil war, enlisting as a private in Co. F, 41st OVI, of which he was later promoted to first Lieutenant, and was mustered out Nov. 27, 1865. He was a man of excellent qualities, kind and considerate of others, a valued friend and neighbor. He was a member of the Methodist church and affiliated with the GAR. He was twice married and is survived by three children by his first wife, Mrs. Addie Black, Conneaut; Mrs. Katie Tinker, Cleveland; Harry Beardsley, Painesville, and his widow. A brother, Almus Beardsley, died in this township just one year ago. Funeral services will be held from the family home Saturday morning at 10:30, Rev. F. C. Landfear being in charge. The remains will be taken to Andover for interment." Children: Addie Gunn (Claude H. Black); Kate Lena (Albert Tinker); and Harry Martin Beardsley (Lilah Bently). Kate Lena married Albert Tinker on 10 June 1897. She was born on 24 Sep 1870 and died on 14 Aug 1934. She is also buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. Note: Civil War - Pvt Co. F, 41st OVI He served throughout the civil war, enlisting as a private in Co. F, 41st OVI, of which he was later promoted to first Lieutenant, and was mustered out Nov. 27, 1865.
