Description	:	When Phoebe Gowan Davis, 86, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, another talented pianist and organist was added to Heaven's musical staff. She was the widow of the late Charles L. Davis. Her parents were the late Rev. Roy R. Gowan and Helen Wood Gowan. She was a graduate of Union High School. Read More	When Phoebe Gowan Davis, 86, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, another talented pianist and organist was added to Heaven's musical staff. She was the widow of the late Charles L. Davis. Her parents were the late Rev. Roy R. Gowan and Helen Wood Gowan. She was a graduate of Union High School. Phoebe attended Furman University, USC, and was also a graduate of Palmer College. Phoebe was a Christian and a dignified lady. She never met a stranger and loved people of all ages and color. She loved beautiful clothes and decorating her home for Christmas. At the age of 12, she began playing the organ at her father's churches. For over 72 years, she continued to put her heart and hands to becoming a musician. She was employed 25 years at Southern Electric, and also for many years at Eggers Funeral Homes as their musician. Phoebe was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she enjoyed helping with "Second Chance" young men. She is survived by a daughter, April Davis Hughey and her husband Dr. Todd Hughey of West Columbia; son, Lt. Gen. C.R. Davis, USAF Ret. and his wife, Susan of Richardson, TX; two grandchildren, Zachary Hughey and his wife, Mary, and Marissa Hughey and her fiancé, Chris Sion; and her soon to be born great granddaughter of whom she was overjoyed and anxiously awaiting to see. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm to 2:30pm on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Eggers Funeral Home in Boiling Springs with the funeral service following at 2:30pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tommy Ford, Hugh Pace, Brandon Gibson, Shawn Shipman, Gerald Hutchins and the staff of Eggers Funeral Home.
