Read More	Evening Times-Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa ~ 16 Jul 1909, Fri • Page 8 Mrs. John Fisher, of Bangor township, who passed thru a severe and extensive surgical operation at St. Thomas Hospital Thursday morning, when a fibroid tumor weighing twenty-two pounds was removed from the abdominal cavity, died from the shock at 10:30 Thursday night. The end was not at all unexpected, as it was realized before the operation that the patient had but one chance in many to even survive the operation. Mrs. Fisher had been suffering with the tumor four years, and for the past eight weeks had been in a critical condition. She knew, as did her husband, that death was only a question of a short time unless the tumor was removed, and the patient determined to accept the lone chance held out to her. She made all preparations for her funeral before going on the operating table, as she never expected to awaken from the anesthetic. At Mrs. Fisher's age the shock of the severe ordeal was too great, and altho she survived the operation itself, the end came twelve hours later. Mrs. Fisher was 55 years old, and a native of Pennsylvania. She had lived in the county several years, the family home being in the Mormon Ridge country, two miles distant from Minerva. Nine children survive with the father. They are P.N. Fisher and Eva N. Fisher of this city; Mrs. Charles Hauser and Arthur Fisher of Clemons; Mrs. Nora Boucher of Albion; Mrs. Winnie Shepard of State Center; and Edwin, Kester, and Levi Fisher, who are at home. Four sisters, all living in Wisconsin also survive Mrs. Fisher. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment following in the Albion Cemetery.
