Jane married Charles Osborn under the name of Jane Humphreys on April 18, 1874, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Jane (Humphreys) Osborn married Ira Leggett on March 8, 1883, in Ottumwa. On that marriage record she named her parents as William and Sally (Underwood) Humphreys. Jane (Humphreys) Leggett married Joseph W. Wilmoth on Sept. 19, 1889, in Ottumwa. According to that certificate, she was the daughter of William Humphreys. There is a discrepancy in the date of death on Jane's death certificate and the date in her obituary and funeral notice. According to her death certficate, she died January 1, 1911, at 4:30 a.m. Both her obituary and funeral notice both state she died Saturday, December 31, 1910. --------------- Articles From "Ottumwa Tri-Weekly Courier," Thursday, January 5, 1911, Page 6: FUNERALS. Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Jane Pownell, who passed away Saturday, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence of Mrs. Ida Newnam, corner of Richards and Hayne streets. Rev. Hiram Baker conducted the services. Interment was made in the Shaul cemetery. --------------- DEATHS. POWNELL--Saturday, December 31, 1910 at 11:30 p. m. Jane Pownell age 80, a highly respected octogenarian of the county. Death came most peacefully from old age. The decedent leaves one daughter, Ida Newman [sic] and two sons, E.J.E. Pownell of Ottumwa and H. S. Pownell of Champaign, Ill. The funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Ida Newman, corner Hayne and Richards streets, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. Hiram Baker will have charge. Interment will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
