Marquardt were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Ogden with Rev. Deane Chapman in charge. A quartete (sic) composed of Mesdames Otto Ehlers, Alva Smith, H. L. Bass and Miss Dorothy Ehlers sang, "Life's Railway to Heaven," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "No Night There." Mrs. G. R. Meehan accompanied them on the piano. The flowers were in charge of Mesdames E. OBITUARY - Phoebe Lillian Phillips was born in Cedar County, Iowa near Mechanicsville, on April 7, 1865 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oscar Carlson, in Perry, Iowa, on March 12, 1936. Had she lived until the 7th of April in the current year, she would have been 71 years of age. Mrs. Marquardt spent most of her childhood and youth in Iowa. She attended the Tip Top school near Ogden and later completed her education at Glenelder Academy in Kansas. After graduation she taught for some time. On January 13, 1886 she was united in marriage with William Marquardt at Phillipsburg, Phillips County, Kansas. To this union 4 children were born. One son, Paul, died in infancy. Her other three children survive her. In 1890 the family moved from Kansas, coming to Beaver, Iowa. They resided here for two and one-half years, and then came to Ogden. Mrs. Marquardt made her home in Ogden until 1928, with the exception of a period of four years spent in Wisconsin. In 1928, she and Mr. Marquardt moved to Berkley where they have made their home since. Mrs. Marquardt was a loyal member of the Methodist church of Ogden. During the years the family resided in this community she was a tireless worker in both the Ladies Aid and in the church. Mrs. Marquardt was a great home woman. Her chief interests in life centered in her home, husband and children. Of late years she took great pride in her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed in the home circle. For the last several years of her life she had been in poor health. Death came to her as a welcome release from all of her physical pains. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of the years, Wm. Marquardt of Berkley, with whom she celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary January 13, 1936, two daughters, Mrs. Mike Coval and Mrs. Oscar Carlson of Perry, one son, Chas. Marquardt of Ogden. She also leaves 4 grandchildren, one grandson, Carl Carlson, having preceded her in death a year ago last February. Her living grandchildren are: William and Paul Carlson of Perry, Elizabeth and Wyman Marquardt of Ogden, and a great granddaughter, Bonnie Mae Carlson of Perry. Besides these she leaves other more distant relatives and numerous old friends. Among those from out of town who attended the services for Mrs. Marquardt were: Mrs. Cora Nelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Mae Dixson, Miss Phoebe Dixson, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ring and Mr. and Mrs. I.
