PHOEBE JOHNSON Mrs. Phoebe Johnson passed away at the home of her son, John Boylan, Oct. 5, 1900, at the advanced age of 88 years, she being a pioneer settler of Iowa, coming here in 1854. She leaves three sons and two daughters, all reside in this county, to mourn her loss. Twenty-seven grandchildren, over 30 great grandchildren, nearly all being present at the last sad rites that were held at the Beulah chapel at 10 o'clock, where an excellent funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. Thompson of Russell. A large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to their last resting place in the Brownlee cemetery. She had been a consistent member of the M. E. church since early children, being blessed with an uncomplaining disposition. The last weeks of her life were spent without a murmur as to her condition, longing to be with Jesus and at rest.
