Description	:	WALKERTON-Phyllis Ann Jackson departed this earthly life for her eternal home on July 11, 2017. She was 89 years old at the time of her death. Read More	WALKERTON-Phyllis Ann Jackson departed this earthly life for her eternal home on July 11, 2017. She was 89 years old at the time of her death. Phyllis was born at home on a farm near Ossian, IN on August 13, 1927. She was the third of 10 children born to Herman and Esther (Graft) Werling. At the age of 16, she left home to earn her own way. War times were hard and her high school boyfriend was in the Navy far away. With the war behind them, they were married on the 4th of July in 1947. It was a simple ceremony, but the vows were spoken from the heart. Their bond was strong and lasted for 67 years until her beloved Bob was called home on October 7, 2014. As a young mother, at the age of 23, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her priorities were simple, Jesus was first in her life, followed closely by her husband and children. She was a hardworking farm wife. She milked cows, nurtured piglets, raised gardens, and canned and froze produce to provide for her family. In her retirement years, she thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren. With Bob's passing and her health declining, she became a resident of Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton. Phyllis was known for her warm smile and gracious ways. Her family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and residents for all the kindnesses shown to her during her stay there. Phyllis was a faithful member of the Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Phyllis is survived by five children, Barbara (Sam) Strahm of Walkerton, Sharon (Doug) Miller of Ft. Wayne, Bob (Linda) Jackson of Goshen, Dennis (Francine) Jackson of Mill Creek and David (Janet) Jackson of Silver Lake, IN; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lois Boyts, Bonnie McDowell, Carol Curry, Wanda Eichhorn and Jean Anderson;and one brother, Doyle Werling. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Don Werling; and sisters, Bernice Miller and Joyce Heckman. Funeral services will be MONDAY, JULY 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) at the Koontz Lake Missionary Churchwith Pastor Brian Baughman officiating. A graveside service will take place at 4:00 p.m. ET Monday at the Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester, IN officiated by her grandson, Phil Strahm. Friends may visit Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to The Gideons or to the Koontz Lake Missionary Church.
