Kromminga, 82, of Monticello, died Nov. 6, 2007 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at SS. Pastor Paul Finger officiated at the service. Phyllis Keith was born July 6, 1925 in Union Township, Delaware County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Benjamin F. and Olive C. Dufoe Keith. She was confirmed and baptized at the Buck Creek Methodist Church. Phyllis graduated in 1943 from the Buck Creek School, as salutatorian of her class. Richard Kromminga and Phyllis Keith were married Nov. 7, 1944 at the Keith family farm in Delaware County. The couple made their home in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa. Phyllis was a life-long member of the SS Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. As an active member, she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, along with being the superintendent. She was an outdoor enthusiast, going deer and antelope hunting in Wyoming. Phyllis was also a member of the Worth While Homemaker Club. She also enjoyed sewing, craftwork, and quilting. She will be deeply missed by many family and friends. Survivors include her four sons, Garry (Willene) of Robins; Duane (Connie) of Hopkinton; Roger of Anamosa; and Lance (Dixie) of Monticello; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and a brother, Gordon (Claudia) Keith, Delhi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Kromminga; one sister, Beryl Kromminga; a grandson, Brian; and a daughter-in-law, Betty.
