She was 83 years of age. Phyllis George was born in McRoberts, Kentucky to Hobert Garrett Bowling and Vertie Leu Emma Bowling on June 27, 1931. She was a beloved sibling to Ernestine Plummer and Eugene Bowling, both deceased. She attended Morehead State University and earned her Bachelors degree in education. She moved to Florida in 1954 where she began teaching at Fort White and Santa Fe High School. While in Florida she met the love of her life, Wayne C. George, and had two children in High Springs Florida where she and her husband spent the entirety of their lives. She was a retired guidance counselor from Gainesville High School where she worked for numerous years. She is survived by her husband Wayne, both of her children, Wilda (Joseph) Isabelle and Thomas (Kelly) George, as well as her five grandchildren, Melissa, Griffin, Julianne, Natalie, and Garrett. She is also remembered by her beloved niece and caregiver Amanda Jones. She was an avid traveler and a lover of nature, birds, and flowers, especially cardinals and orchids. A service celebrating Phyllis's life will be held at Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Traxler, Florida on Tuesday, November 25 at 2:00PM. Visitation with her family will be one hour prior to the service. Her burial will take place at High Springs Cemetery.
