Phyllis Elisabeth (Pieper) Klemme was born March 22, 1932 in Ross, Iowa. She was the youngest of three children born to Rev. Fred and Amanda (Bier) Pieper. Read More	Phyllis Klemme, age 77, of Hubbard, IA died on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Phyllis Elisabeth (Pieper) Klemme was born March 22, 1932 in Ross, Iowa. She was the youngest of three children born to Rev. Fred and Amanda (Bier) Pieper. While growing up, Phyllis lived in Belle Plain, Sharon, Renwick, and then Hubbard, graduating from Hubbard High School with the class of 1950. In 1952, she graduated from the two year teacher course at Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. In 1949, Phyllis was trained by Lydia Dubberke as a switch board operator and worked at the local telephone company part time for several years. From 1952-1955 she was employed by the Iowa Falls Public School system as a sixth grade teacher and also taught sixth grade one year at Hubbard. On November 22, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert Klemme in Hubbard, Iowa. They spent their entire married life in the Hubbard area. Together they farmed and operated Klemme Trucking. She enjoyed driving whether it be the combine, the ambulance, or the school bus and loved to travel. She was an active member of the Salem United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served in many different committees and offices. Her faith remained strong, even as her health failed. She had a great concern for other people, and always enjoyed visiting. Through the years she kept busy with many activities, including sewing, knitting, baking, and reading. She was well known for her sense of humor, and always loved a good joke. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband Robert of Hubbard, Iowa; three daughters Gayle and her husband Jim Faris of Hubbard, Iowa; Brenda and her husband Frank Eley of Tustin, California and Stacy and her husband Wade Brinkmeyer of Hubbard, Iowa; seven grandchildren Amber (Nathan) Wiertzema, Austin (Amy) Faris, Sean and Evan Eley, Shelby, Grant and Tyler Brinkmeyer; four great-grandchildren Madison and Paige Wiertzema, Logan and Hailey Faris; one sister Miriam Rosene of Princeton, Illinois; one brother Melvin Pieper of Manson, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother. We are blessed and grateful to God for the life and memory of Phyllis Klemme.
