Description	:	Phyllis Harriet Quintus, 91, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away March 23, 2017, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. She was born October 18, 1925, to Palmer and Hattie (Johnson) Jensen in Lake Mills, Iowa. Phyllis graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1943. She was working for the Lake Mills School as a secretary when a friend suggested she start writing to a serviceman (Dean Quintus) who was overseas during WWII. Read More	Phyllis Harriet Quintus, 91, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away March 23, 2017, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. She was born October 18, 1925, to Palmer and Hattie (Johnson) Jensen in Lake Mills, Iowa. Phyllis graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1943. She was working for the Lake Mills School as a secretary when a friend suggested she start writing to a serviceman (Dean Quintus) who was overseas during WWII. When he came home on leave, she met him at the bus station and it was a union of love. They married July 15, 1946, in Rockford, Illinois. To this union, 3 children were born, Cynthia Jean, Valerie Ann, and Kevin Dean. They lived in Garner, Mason City, and then moved to Hampton in June of 1966. When the children got older she became a cook for the Hampton High School. After 11 years of working for the school, she worked at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center as a cook for 7 years retiring at the age of 63. She and Dean traveled the United States delivering motor home for Winnebago Industries for a few years following retirement enjoying the country and each other. She loved nothing more than to be home with her family and cook a 10-course meal for them all; especially her chocolate angel food cake from scratch with a whip cream/Hershey's Chocolate with almonds frosting. She was the most loving, caring, and compassionate person anyone could meet; never having an enemy. She was a member of the United Congregational Church and the Bakery Babes. For the past 15 years, she could be found at the Windsor Theatre most Thursday nights. She is survived by a daughter, Valerie (Layne) Borseth, and a son, Kevin (Laura) Quintus, grandchildren, Glen (Kaci) Harper, Jeremy (Laura) Young, Rollie Harper, Jessica Quintus, and Katie (Seth Berding) Quintus, great-grandchildren, Samantha Harper, Madisyn Harper, and Lyla Young. She also has 4 sister-in-laws, Lynn Quintus, Verneil Quintus, Ruth Quintus, and Virginia (Harlan) Haberkamp, Ruby Wineman, many nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Quintus 11/23/2005, a daughter Cynthia Jean 1/13/1953, a granddaughter Cynthia Jean 10/31/1983, her sister and brother-in-law Gelaine (Herbert) Irving, and sister/brother-in-laws Dorothy (Dean) Jeter, Merle Winters, Don Quintus, Margaret (Leonard/Doc) Allen, Jerry Quintus, Jim Quintus, and Maybelle Quintus.
