Read More	Phyllis Jean Conrad, 82, Kokomo, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Northwoods Village. She was born January 13, 1934 in Kokomo, the daughter of Virgil K. and Helen (Bone) Emry. She was married on August 1, 1953 in Kokomo, by Rev. Lee Springer to Elmer J. Conrad. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1993. Phyllis’s most important job was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She worked part-time in the late 60’s and early 70’s in the nursery at Cedar Crest and Don Lowry Bowling Lanes. She sold Avon for several years and considered the people not only customers, but friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and in her later years, she found pleasure in playing bingo with friends and making arts and crafts. She volunteered for the overseas club during the Vietnam War. She also volunteered at the Family Intervention Center and CAM until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (John) Keel; grandchildren, Jessica Keel, Ashleigh (Drew) Linn, Brian (Heather) Keel; great-grandchildren, Austin Keel, Abbi Keel; step-great-granddaughter, Lillian Heyer; sister Wanita (Donald) Erickson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil K. Emry and Helen Emry Peterson; step-father who raised her, Albert Peterson; husband; sisters, Rhea Emry (who died as an infant), Laura Keith; brothers, William Emry, John Emry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, with Pastor Charlie Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
