Description	:	OBITUARY: Phyllis Jean Bridgmon, 85, of Cook, passed away Oct. 3, 2012 in Michigan while visiting her daughter. She was born to William Merle and Robert (Kovanda) Fisher in a doctor's private hospital in Lincoln, on Jan. 10, 1927. Phyllis attended school in Cook, She began taking trumpet lessons in the 3rd grade and by the 5th grade was playing in the high school orchestra and band. Read More	OBITUARY: Phyllis Jean Bridgmon, 85, of Cook, passed away Oct. 3, 2012 in Michigan while visiting her daughter. She was born to William Merle and Robert (Kovanda) Fisher in a doctor's private hospital in Lincoln, on Jan. 10, 1927. Phyllis attended school in Cook, She began taking trumpet lessons in the 3rd grade and by the 5th grade was playing in the high school orchestra and band. She was active in the Cook Methodist Church and won an award for perfect attendance for 17 years in Sunday school. Phyllis graduated from Cook High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1944. She was the only girl in her graduating class of 13. She married Lee "Lefty" Bridgmon, Sr. when he returned from the service in WWII. Phyllis attended Peru State College and continued going to college class by class receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1971 and her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1976 at the age of 49. Phyllis taught in Otoe and Murray elementary schools as well as a rural one-room shoolhouse. She was a teacher ahead of her time, knowing that in order to have students do their best, she had to be friendly, kind and understanding. and use an extraordinary amount of praise. Phyllis loved to travel in the USA and twice visited the Czech Republic from where her grandparents immigrated. She leaves behind many embroidered quilts made for family and friens. Phyllis is survived by her sond, Steve Bridgmon and wife Jodi of Cook George Bridgmon and wife Amy of Tampa, FL. and Lee Bridgmon Jr and wife Beverly of Lincoln, daughter, Cheryl Vance and husband Tommy and son Zack of Omaha; Benjamin Bridgmon of Arlingron, TX. Jamie Vance and children, Madelyn, Deltona and Grace of Jackson, MI. Jeramy Bridgmon of Cook, NE. and son Eric of Omaha; Kellty Bridgmon, wife Bekki and children, Lane, Spencer and Karleigh of Cook. Nick Bridgmon and fiancee Andi of Lincoln; Derick Bridgmon and wife Sierra of Lincoln; and Dillon Bridgmon of Lincoln, brother, William Fisher and wfie Joyce of Cook, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson, Dorman Eugene Bridgmon. Memorial services will be held at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ (Osage) rural Cook, NE. Oct. 12, 2012 with Rev. Curits Rieger officiating. Organist, Julie Smith Hogencamp. Inurnment will be in the Cook Cemetery, rural Cook, NE.
