Read More	NICHOLSON, PHYLLIS JUNE—Phyllis June Nicholson was born in Huntley on June 14, 1923, the daughter of Horace and Marvel Lowe and the eldest of their eight children. She passed away on January 28, 1982, at Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln at the age of 58. She is survived by her husband, Ivan; their children, Mark and Betty Nicholson of San Diego, Cal., and Steve and Karyn Nicholson of Lincoln; her parents, Horace and Marvel Lowe; three sisters, Ruth Fristo of Dickens, Martha Ballard of Colorado Springs, Col., Sheryll Hickman of Alma; two brothers, Keith Lowe of Phelan, Cal., and Loyd Lowe of Alma; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Senko and Gail Lowe. She went to school in Huntley, then went to Kearney State College for two years and completed her teaching degree at the University of Nebraska. Following graduation she taught high school business courses for two years in Cambridge. Phyllis married Ivan Burdette Nicholson in Huntley, on June 6, 1948, and they were blessed with two sons. They moved to Geneva in 1953. After the boys were in school, she taught one year at the Geneva high school. In 1959 she started teaching at the Youth Development Center. Her career lasted until January, 11, 1982. She taught several different business courses and always felt very close to “her girls” at the school. She was chosen the 1981 Employee of the Year at the Youth Development Center—an honor bestowed on her by fellow employees. Phyllis was an avid sports fan of Geneva high school and especially sports at the University of Nebraska. For Phyllis there was nothing like the thrill of a “Go Big Red Saturday.” Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist church in Geneva on Saturday, January 30, 1982, with the Rev. Jay Funk officiating. Mrs. Evelyn Foster accompanied the congregation in singing “Joyful Joyful”, “Amazing Grace,” and “God of Grace”. Pallbearers were Robert Bailey, John Edgecombe Sr., Charles Fairley, Herman L. Larsen, Everett Renken and K. Bill Shaner. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
