She was born in Fort Fairfield July 8, 1919, the daughter of William J. and Sadie (Ferris) Ayoob. Phyllis was a high school graduate and received her beautician license at Eastern Maine Beauty Academy in 1937. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. To her friends and family she was lovingly called Situ. (Ayoob) Cogswell, 89, died May 4, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit in Waterville. She was born in Fort Fairfield July 8, 1919, the daughter of William J. and Sadie (Ferris) Ayoob. Phyllis was a high school graduate and received her beautician license at Eastern Maine Beauty Academy in 1937. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. To her friends and family she was lovingly called Situ. She will always be remembered for the ease with which she made warm and deep friendships in all of the many places she lived throughout her life. She loved cooking, dancing, tennis, bowling and shopping. She was an avid card player and traveled extensively with her husband throughout the United States, Europe, the Far East, and Hawaii. A special tribute goes to her niece, Martha Patterson and sister, Mary P. Ayoob, for their physical and spiritual support. She received tremendous care from all of the dedicated employees at Mount Saint Joseph's Nursing Home. Special thanks and gratitude are also extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Thayer campus of MaineGeneral Medical Center. Their professionalism and compassion were second to none. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, two sons and their wives, a daughter and her husband, a sister, seven grandchildren, a special family friend, along with many other loving relatives. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow, with the Rev. Bruce Siket officiating and the Rev. Mr. Peter Joseph assisting. A graveside committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in St. Dennis Cemetery in Ft. Fairfield. Published in the Morning Sentinel on 5/6/2009
