Description	:	Phyllis L. Smith, age 91, of Deep River, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at the English Valley Care Center in North English following a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov.18, at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo, with the Rev. Bev Thompson-Travis officiating. Burial was in Zion Cemetery, rural Ladora. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Stephens of Littleton, Colo., Janice Albury (Ted) of Cedar Rapids, and Carol Dale of Deep River; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Reginald Plagmann; a sister, Helen Hartz; and a granddaughter, Amy McMartin. Phyllis Louise Plagmann was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Leader, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Bertha Bryant Plagmann. She graduated from Hilton High School in Conroy with the class of 1936. Phyllis married Ivan Smith on June 9, 1937, at the Trinity United Church of Christ parsonage, rural Marengo, on June 9, 1937. Ivan died Oct. 10, 1996. Phyllis was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and a former member of the quilting group at Trinity. She was a former member of the Zion Evangelical Reformed Church, rural Ladora. She was a loving mother and a homemaker.
