Phyllis was born on January 20, 1916 in Moline, Kansas the daughter of Silas Victor and Lillian May (Hebb) Jones. Phyllis graduated from Moline High School in 1934. On October 21, 1934 she married Raymond Divine of Howard, Kansas. They raised two children on their family farm and celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. Read More	Phyllis Mae Divine, 94, formerly of Howard, Kansas passed away Friday September 17, 2010 in Wichita, Kansas at her daughter's residence. Phyllis was born on January 20, 1916 in Moline, Kansas the daughter of Silas Victor and Lillian May (Hebb) Jones. Phyllis graduated from Moline High School in 1934. On October 21, 1934 she married Raymond Divine of Howard, Kansas. They raised two children on their family farm and celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a retired employee of the Howard 1st National Bank, an active member of the Howard United Methodist Church and the Moline Alumni. Phyllis had a beautiful voice and, in her younger years, sang solos in church and at weddings. She was a tremendous cook in the country farm tradition -- nobody made a better family style breakfast. She is survived by a daughter, Connie Claypool of Wichita, Kansas; a son, Randy Divine of Houston, Texas; and one grandson, David Claypool (Kelly) of Wichita, Kansas. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents Silas and Lillian Jones; brothers and sisters: Orville Jones, Gladys Coble, Ethel Bigler, Archie Jones, Mabel Call, Cliff Jones, Earl Jones and Harold-Dale Jones. Private family graveside services will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard, Kansas. No formal visitation will be held; friends may stop by the funeral home and sign the register book Wednesday. Family suggests contributions to the Howard United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences at www.countrysidefh.com.
