Description	:	Phyllis M. Kranz, age 84, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Funeral mass will be on Friday, at 11:00 on October 10, 2008 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Father Joe Forcelle will be the celebrant with Leanne Giessinger as organist and the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir. Interment will be in the Holy Rosary Church Cemetery in Kranzburg, South Dakota. Phyllis Margaret Kranz, the daughter of Herman H. and Marie H. (Steinbach) Kracke, was born on July 31, 1924 in Brookings County near White, South Dakota. She grew up in the White area and attended school in Brookings County. Phyllis graduated from White High School in 1942 then attended Sioux Falls College for one year for her secretarial degree. She was employed at Peter Fox and Company as a secretary until her marriage. She was united in marriage with Al M. Kranz on October 31, 1946 in Kranzburg, South Dakota. The couple lived in the Watertown area until 1958 when they moved to a farm three miles south of South Shore. Phyllis was a homemaker and worked as a cook at the Waverly School for several years during the 1970's. Al passed away on October 14, 1981. The couple were married for 34 years. She lived on the farm until 1982 when she moved to Watertown. Phyllis was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Little Flower Circle. Phyllis loved doing things with her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She especially loved babies. She also enjoyed flower gardening, playing pinochle and baking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Frances and Marian; two sons, Anthony and Richard; and her brother, "Bud". She is survived by her children, Mike (Arleen) Kranz of Watertown, SD, Kathy (Neal) Koustrup of Richland, WA, Jeanette (Larry) Gromer of Mitchell, SD, Alan (Vernia) Kranz of Watertown, SD, Eileen (Wayne) Heilman of Clark, SD, Karen (Earl) Baumgarn of Watertown, SD, Chuck (Emma) Kranz of Huron, SD, Carol (Leroy) Flemming of Watertown, SD, Don (Leslie) Kranz of Watertown, SD, Doug (Becky) Kranz of Watertown, SD and Keith (Amy) Kranz of Coon Rapids, MN; a son-in-law, Kevin (Glenda) Meyer of Watertown, SD; her sister, Gaye Leisinger of Ruthton, MN; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frances Kracke, Helen Kranz, Margaret Byer, Margaret Kranz, Mary Ellen Kranz, Paul (Marlene) Kranz, Thad (Susan) Kranz, Mary (Emery) Byer, Jerry (Colleen) Kranz and Pat Kranz; her 30 grandchildren; and her 49 great grandchildren.
