Funeral Mass will be at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball. A Committal Service will follow at St. Margaret's Catholic Cemetery. Phyllis Rachel (Glissendorf) Mairose was born on September 23, 1924 to Ralph and Edna (Falk) Glissendorf on the family farm in Brule County, SD. She grew up in the area, graduating from White Lake High School in 1942. She continued her education in Greeley, CO and at Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, SD earning her teaching certificate. She then taught school in Coleman, Geddes and Mitchell. On January 24, 1953, she married Joseph Mairose at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball and they made the family farm their home, which was a mile and a half from where she was born. She was Vice Principal of Aurora County Schools, served as President of the Kimball School Board and was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Phyllis was a founding member, as well as an officer of the Court of St. Patrick Catholic Daughters at St. Margaret's. After spending a year at Prairie View Assisted Living in Kimball, she entered the Platte Care Center in 2004 where she was a resident for 6 ½ years. Survivors include: her husband of more than 57 years, Joe; their 4 children: Greg (Sue) Mairose of Kimball, SD, Paul (Donna) Mairose of Woodland, WA, Steve (Mary) Mairose of Kimball, SD and Lisa (Matt) Staab of Brandon, SD; 17 grandchildren: Pierce, Taylor, Penny, Tess, Carly, Kevin, Sydney, Jed, Sam, Holly, Bart, Gina, Rachel, Erin, Luke, Andrew and Isabelle; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Haines of White Lake, SD; 3 sisters-in-law: Janet and Inge Glissendorf of White Lake, SD and Martha Glissendorf of Rochester, MN. Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents, Ralph and Edna Glissendorf; 4 brothers: Leland, Wayne, Darrel and Adelbert Glissendorf; 3 sisters: Jean Chandler, Delores Metz and Eunice Athey Bennet; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Mairose.
