On 6 October 1709 John Bowne of Middletown, Monmouth County conveys to Peter Tyssen of New Utrecht and John Tyssen of Brookland, both in Kings County, New York, for eight hundred pounds, land at Wegnatunk, in Monmouth County. The name of John Tyssen appears along with that of Peter Tyssen. On 5 January 1711 John Tyssen conveys to Peter Tyssen, for four hundred pounds, property in Monmouth County. Still others have the surname, "Pietersen." Early Dutch Settlers of Monmouth County (Beekman, p.114) says that some of the family moved to Bucks or Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and retained the Tysen surname. Those who remaiined in Monmouth County spelled their name as Tice, and Pieter's son, Mattias, went by the name of Matthias Peterse, with descendants being the Petersons of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
