Myers, 78, committed suicide Monday by taking strychnine at the home of his son, Aaron, southeast of Sheridan. Morose, he had left home the day before, but was later found by members of his family. After taking the strychnine Monday morning, he refused to accept the emetics prescribed by a Sheridan physician and took more strychnine. He died en route to the McMinnville hospital. Born at Iowa City, Ia., June 18, 1855, Mr. Myers had made his home with his son, Aaron, for the last four years. Surviving are three sons, Aaron; Homer of Canada and Abbott of Sheridan; two daughters, Gladys Myers of Sheridan and Cynthia Myers of Saskatchewan, Canada; a step-son, Sam Koch of Newberg, and a brother, Samuel, of Logan, Ia. Funeral services were held from the Macy chapel here Wednesday afternoon. The body was shipped to Shelby, Ia., for burial. Contributor: Sheri West (46611462) •
