| Description | : | He was the son of Homer B. and Anna Gicking Seiwell. He entered Catawba College where he was a cheerleader, president of the Student Government Association and voted the most popular student in his class. During the summers he worked in the coal mines near his home. He graduated from Catawba in 1935 and Lancaster [PA] Theological Seminary in 1938. He married Maria Leister, a 1934 graduate of Catawba, on June 21, 1939 in Hanover, PA.
