Description	:	Prentiss David Gormley, 84, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004, at St Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. Prentiss was born November 10, 1919, in Metamora, Ohio. He was a general contractor and owner of Gormley Builders. Many homes in the greater Metamora area were built by him. Prentiss was a World War II veteran, serving as a Carpenters Mate First Class from 1942-1945 on the battleship USS Pennsylvania, Pacific Theater. Read More	Prentiss David Gormley, 84, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004, at St Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. Prentiss was born November 10, 1919, in Metamora, Ohio. He was a general contractor and owner of Gormley Builders. Many homes in the greater Metamora area were built by him. Prentiss was a World War II veteran, serving as a Carpenters Mate First Class from 1942-1945 on the battleship USS Pennsylvania, Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars, Captain's Meritorious-eight battle stars, and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was a member of VFW Post #8598 in Swanton, Ohio, American Legion Post #479 in Swanton, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Friends and family of all ages stopped by his wood shop in the backyard where he spent his retirement years crafting many unique items. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise (Cartwright) Gormley; children, Sandra Gee (Larry) Dunbar, Metamora, Michael (Colleen) Gormley, Pensacola, Florida, David (Elizabeth) Gormley, Delta, Ohio; step-children, Mary Ann (Harry) Hueston, Canyon, Texas, Molly (Tom) Hill, Painesville, Ohio, Sally Poorman, Metamora, Michael (Susan) Malone, Indian River, Michigan; sisters, Meredyth Gobba, Mission, Texas and Joanna Lancaster, Clinton, Michigan; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are first wife, Doris (Lassey) Gormley, infant twin sons, David and Daniel and granddaughter, Julie. Visitation will be Friday, June 10 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 415 East Main Street, Metamora, Ohio,which Prentiss built in 1947. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Saturday, June 19 at 11 a.m. Following a cremation, there will be a private burial in Amboy Township Cemetery, Metamora.
