She was born the last day of the year, 1890. Jokingly, we would tell her she was a year old the very next day. She was the wife of a farmer, James Harry Mollohan, Sr. for a few short years. The union ending in the death of Harry in 1927. During those years she became the Mother of nine children. God surely watched over Prudy, as He graced her the fortitude to look and see ahead. When Prudy was expecting her tenth baby--God said, "Enough," and took Prudy's husband, Harry away from this land. He gave Prudy foresight to plan her own future for herself and her family, He gave her a plan for her future. "Gather up your children and leave this land, make yourself a home far from here, keep Faith and you will prosper and prevail." So Prudy set forth. She gathered what belongings she needed , sold her farm and went forth from her family and friends. Many predicted she would return. Prudy with a solid mind, firm footing and her firm but gentle ways went with her children to a new land. There she started a new life. Through the good time were slow and hard, the bad, sad time were barely bearable, Prudy plugged along. By and by, each child grew and left home to begin their own lives. But each child always remembered Prudy, and Prudy's children provided her with 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Wouldn't it have been nice if Dad could have seen what Prudy had done all by herself. She was truly a wonder woman. She was our Mother, Prudy. Prudy and Harry were married 11 June 1911 in Gassaway, WV; OBITUARY PRUDENCE C. MOLLOHAN Mrs. Prudence C. (Pruddy) Mollohan, 68, died Sunday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Edward Cupp on Braddock avenue. She had been ill for some time.She was born Dec31, 1890 in Braxton County, a daughter of John E. and Sarah Dobbins Young. Mrs. Mollohan was formerly employed at the West Penn Power company for 17 years, and her last employment was at the Morgantown Glassware Guild.She was deceased by her husband, James Harry Mollohan, 32 years ago.survivors include four sons: Spencer and James Mollohan, both of Morgantown, Oscar of Baltimore, and Elvin of Akron. Six daughters: Mrs. Dicie Cupp of Morgantown, and Mrs. Lucille Wiles and Mrs. Avis JOseph of Akron, Mrs. Genevieve Smith of San Diego, Calif, Mrs. Fern Hauck of Chicago, and Mrs. Loraine Hopkins of Baltimore, one brother Oscar Young of Fairmont; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Delaney and Mrs. Effie Nichols of Dingy, W.Va., 20 grandchildren and six-great grandchildren.
