M 168th Infantry, "Rainbow" Division and was one of the first to enlist, he being sent to Red Oak with eight other boys. Charles Louis Weiss was born in Woodbine March 9,1900 to Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Weiss. He died July 15,1918, aged 18 years,4 months and 6 days. He grew to young manhood in Woodbine and when war was declared he was one of the first to answer his country's call by volunteering at a patriotic meeting held at the auditorium. Three sons of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Weiss, Max,Louis, and George, all whom gave their lives while in their country's service, are side by side in their last resting place in Woodbine Cemetery. Not many parents made this sacrifice and they have the sympathy of the hundreds of Woodbine friends. Louis was one of the first to go and the first to die in battle and and the last to be brought home. WW1 Death, 15 July 1918 France Rank. Private Branch.
