Description	:	Sent to Camp Jackson, SC for Army training. Arrived in Europe as a private in Company E of the 323rd Infantry Regiment, 81st Division. Transferred to Company K of the 168th Infantry Regiment, 42nd Division where he died of wounds sustained in battle. While advancing in the attack on the St. Mihiel salient near Fliery, PVT Jones was wounded by a high explosive shell and taken to the hospital where he died a week later.
