Description	:	David Franklin Crow was born in Randalia, IA, on 28 August 1931 to Harold Eugene and Mary (Lockner) Crow. David had three brothers, Eugene, Richard, and Harold Jr., and two sisters, Leola and Mary Lou. He soon moved with his parents from Iowa to a farm south of Haynes, SD. David attended Haynes grade school and moved to Lemmon, SD in 1944, where he graduated from high school in May 1948. After graduation, he worked as a hired hand for farmers in the area. David had three brothers, Eugene, Richard, and Harold Jr., and two sisters, Leola and Mary Lou. He soon moved with his parents from Iowa to a farm south of Haynes, SD. David attended Haynes grade school and moved to Lemmon, SD in 1944, where he graduated from high school in May 1948. After graduation, he worked as a hired hand for farmers in the area. He was not married and planned to be a minister. David was one of four young men from Lemmon who enlisted in the U.S. Army on 25 March 1950. Joining David were his brothers, Richard and Eugene, and his cousin Dale Crow. They traveled by train to Sioux Falls, SD, to be processed, and then were sent to Fort Riley, KS, for six weeks of basic training. After returning home for a two-week furlough, the men were sent to Fort Lewis, WA. After only six days at Fort Lewis, they were shipped to Korea, arriving on 23 August 1950, which was Eugene's 22nd birthday. By David's birthday, 28 August, the boys were already fighting on the front lines. PVT David Crow was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. David and his cousin, PVT Dale Crow, died on Hill 285, south of Taegu, South Korea, when their unit was overrun by the enemy on 9 September 1950. They were in the same foxhole. PVT David Crow was killed instantly by enemy small arms fire.
