Description	:	PVT US ARMY WORLD WAR II. Floyd D. Wilcox, 85, of Akron died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center following a brief illness. Services were held Monday, Dec. 29 at First Baptist Church in Akron, with Pastor Steven Miller officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Hoschiler American Legion Post 186 of Akron. Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron, was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wilcox was born Sept. 23, 1912, in rural Akron, the son of Frank and Bessie (Crow) Wilcox. He attended school in Akron, graduating from Akron High School in 1931. He farmed in Union county, S. D. from 1931 to 1937, then moved to Akron. He was employed as a electrician with J. A. Jensen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Maxine Lake on March 6, 1946, in Akron. She died in 1982. He founded Wilcox Electric and operated it until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge and He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry; and granddaughter, Amy; and a sister, Helen Johnson.
