Spanish American War. ***************************** Frank Morton Howard** Frank Morton Howard, 76, Funkstown, died at the Williamsport Sanitarium Sunday at 8:45 p. m. He had been confined to the Washington County Hospital since September 23 with a fractured hip sustained in a fall and was released on November 3rd. He was born and reared in Funkstown, the son of Charles E. and Elizabeth (Grosh) Howard, but had resided in Hagerstown, for many years, where he served as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1941. In 1906 he married Mrs. Ida E. Kemp, who preceded him in death by twelve years. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Friendship Lodge of Masons, St. Bernard's Commandery No. 9, Knights Templar, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Baltimore; Ali Ghan Temple A. A. O. N. M. S., of Cumberland Chapter Royal Arch Masons No. 27, Palestine Council, Bald Eagle Tribe of Red Men and a United Spanish War Veteran of Co. K, 1st Maryland Regiment, Capt. William Preston Lane, father of former Gov. Lane. Surviving are one sister and four brothers: Miss May L., at home; William L. and George H., of Funkstown; Charles E., Jr., Cleveland, O., and John H., Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. The body was removed to the Suter Funeral Home. Services will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown, on Wednesday at 2:30 p. m., the Rev. George S. Bowden officiating. St. Bernard's Commandery will be in charge of the services. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until the funeral hour. Friends may call at the Suter Home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9. Interment will be in the Funkstown Cemetery. Published in The Daily Mail (Hagerstown, Maryland) - Monday, November 9, 1953.
