Herman was their grandson, their daughter was Caroline Faubel Henry was born Heinrich Faubel in Worms, Hessen Darmstadt on May 11, 1843. He came to America March 21, 1859. Heinrich and Kathrina were married in Hancock, Michigan May 20th 1865 at the home of his sister Elizabeth Faubel Schwarz. Henry Faubel came to Cleveland, Ohio in 1859 at the age of 16. At the outbreak of the civil war in 1861 he enlisted with the Ohio Volunteers and was later assigned to General Hooker. He was mustered in at Cleveland, Ohio, and then sent to West Virginia. In a skirmishing engagement he was taken prisoner. After over nine months he returned in a prisoner exchange. His service was three years and three months. He was in the engagements at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. He also participated in the engagements at Lookout Mountain and Ringgold. He took part in the eight days fight before Atlanta where General McPherson was killed. After the close of the War, he went back to Columbus, Ohio. A few years later he moved his family to Wisner, Nebraska where he homesteaded. They traveled by covered wagon. The death of Henry Faubel occurred at the Battle Mountain Sanitorium, a National Home for Old Soldiers, at Hot Springs, South Dakota, January 28, 1910.
