This young man Henry S. Blodgett was the son of Nathaniel F. and Candace Blodgett Hall Galacar. He was a clerk at a store in Hooksett at the time he joined the War of the Rebellion. This young man Henry S. Blodgett was the son of Nathaniel F. and Candace Blodgett Hall Galacar. He was a clerk at a store in Hooksett at the time he joined the War of the Rebellion. Civil war records indicate that he was born in 1843, they list him as 18 at the time he enlisted, his NH Birth Certificate shows the accuracy of the date of death on his stone, he was 16 when he died, born in October of 1846. The front of the memorial is totally dedicated too him and reads: Henry S. Blodgett, son of NF and SH Blodgett enlisted in the 22nd Mass Regt. 1861 wounded in battle before Richmond he died September 7, 1862 at Phildelphia AE 16. It would appear he enlisted at age 15. He was with Company D of the Mass regiment. His mother later married Capt Jediah Galacar who also was a member of the 22nd Mass Regt.
