Mrs. Schwartz left Tuesday morning for his camp. Herbert Schwartz Buried at Bethel Schwartz Family Already Giving Three Sons In The service, Are Called Upon For The Supreme Sacrifice Mrs. Herm. Schwartz, accompanying the remains of her son, Herbert, arrived here Monday morning from Camp Custer and the funeral took place Tuesday at 1:00 at the farm home of Herm. Schwartz and from there the long procession led by the stars and stripes wended it's way to the Bethel church cemetery with Rev. Zimmerman in charge of the service. Owing to the ban placed on all public gatherings no service could be held in the church. Herbert Schwartz passed away Thursday afternoon, after a week's siege with pneumonia, his mother having been with him since the evening before. Altho he was not able to talk, he was conscious and able to recognize his mother. He had began back at camp but two weeks after his return from his furlough home and had been in sound health, until about a week before his death. He was a member of the Supply Co. in the 78th infantry and left home in the July draft. He had two older brothers already in France, Edwin in the Trench Mortar Gun Battalion and Albert who has attained the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Inf. Although Herbert was not privileged to join his brothers over there, He had cheerfully done his duty here and died a true soldier just as well. Besides his soldier brothers, he is survived by his father and mother, eight brothers, Henry, a merchant at Wetstone; Fred, a farmer near Almont; William, New Salem; Herman, Blue Grass; Walter, at home who is now in A No, 1 class; Paul, Erwin and August; And three sisters, Mrs. Phil Just of Judson; and Mary and Juno at home. Although there are meany members of the family, his place will always be vacant and the fondest remembrances cherished. He was born in Lester Prairie, Minn., and was 23 years old on Aug. 30th. Sincerest sympathy is felt for those called upon be give him up so soon in his country's service. JUDSON BOY IS DEAD AT CUSTER Adjutant General Fraser was advised today of the death of Private Herbert E. Schwartz, Supply Company 78th Infantry, U.S.A., At the base hospital at camp Custer on October 10. The deceased was inducted into service by the local board of Morton County July 22. His home address was R. F. D. 1, Judson and his father is Herman Schwartz of Judson.
