Description	:	Jack K. McAllister Sr., 78, of 601 S. Madison Ave., died at 7:25 pm Oct. 20, 2011, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born Aug. 7, 1933, in Ottumwa to Jess K. and Irene Parker McAllister. He married Polly Zesiger in November 1954. They later divorced. Jack attended Ottumwa High School and served with the U.S.Army in the 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean Conflict in Korea. Jack enjoyed refinishing old furniture, watching football, going to casinos, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivving are his companion of 15 years, Pat Heckethorn of Ottumwa; his four children, Kathy McAllister of Ottumwa, Jackie(Linda)McAllister of Marshalltown, Karen(Phil)Bruch of Omaha and Terry McAllister of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne McAllister of Ottumwa; a sister, Jean Sparks of Ottumwa; an uncle, James McAllister of Ottumwa and an aunt, Doris Long of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Phyllis McAllister; a brother, Tom McAllister; and his dog, Angel. His body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 3 pm Monday at Shaul Cemetery, with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B.Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Bark Park. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ∼Dad was a very hard working father
