Description	:	Highland Recorder October 25, 1907 Jesse Arbogast Dead Mr. Jesse Arbogast, who resided at Thorny Bottom, a few miles north of town and whose illness was mentioned last week, died on Wednesday night. Mr. Arbogast was a very worthy man, a quiet and inoffensive citizen and a christian. He was one of the few veterans living who served in the cause of the Confederacy, but we are not informed as to his company or regiment. Morton's History of Highland list him as a member of Company F, 25th Virginia Infantry Regiment. * Highland Recorder November 1, 1907 The death angel visited our neighborhood Wednesday night and called one of our oldest citizens, Mr Jesse Arbogast, age 77 years. He belonged to Company F, 25th Virginia Regiment. He was twice married. His first was a Miss Wimer, of Forks of Water, to whom was born five children, three boys and two girls, Sam and Jerry and Mrs Steward Simmons, of Forks of Water, John, of Harrisonburg and Mrs Bertie Peck, of Ohio. His last wife was a Miss Beverage, of Pocahontas, all of whom survive him. Ne was a member of the German Baptist church and in the absence of his pastor, Rev Josiah Beverage, the Rev. George Puffenberger of Pendleton county conducted the burial service. The deceased was a worthy citizen, good neighbor, kind father, and always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. We extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. He married Phoebe Wimer (1830-1881) on June 24, 1855. He married Catherine Beverage on July 6, 1882. Staunton Spectator.
