His parents live at Stull, fifteen miles southeast of Topeka. The body will be sent to Shelburn (sic), Mo. for burial. ~~~~~~~ Funeral Notice The funeral services of Private Upton Fitzpatrick will be held at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Shelbyville, Mo., on Thursday, October 17, 1918, at 11 o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. J. W. Tanquary. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery ~~~~~~~ John Upton Fitzpatrick John U. Fitzpatrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Fitzpatrick, was born in Shelbyville, Mo., July 28, 1896. Died Oct. 11, 1918 in the hospital at Ft. Riley, Kan., of pneumonia, aged 22 years, 2 months and 13 days. He leaves a father, mother, one brother and a little sister, besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He enlisted in the U. S. army last June and went to Camp Funston last August and was assigned to the 30th Co. Depot Brigade. His body was brought to Shelbyville, Mo., Oct. 16, and taken to the home of J. M. Wood and buried Oct. 17 in I. O. O. F. cemetery with the beautiful Woodmen of the World ceremony, after which Rev. J. W. Tanquary made some very appropriate in reference to an enlisted soldier's life.
