Description	:	John Wesley Greenfield (1845-1927) was born on August 20, 1845, in Milford Township of Butler County, Ohio, to John F. Greenfield (1802-1888) and Elizabeth (Sprowl) Greenfield (1812-1856). Of their nine children, John Wesley was the sixth to be born. During the American Civil War, Private John Wesley Greenfield served from May 2, 1864, to September 8, 1864, with Company "H" of the 167th Infantry Regiment of the Ohio National Guard from May 2, 1864, to September 8, 1864. Read More	John Wesley Greenfield (1845-1927) was born on August 20, 1845, in Milford Township of Butler County, Ohio, to John F. Greenfield (1802-1888) and Elizabeth (Sprowl) Greenfield (1812-1856). Of their nine children, John Wesley was the sixth to be born. During the American Civil War, Private John Wesley Greenfield served from May 2, 1864, to September 8, 1864, with Company "H" of the 167th Infantry Regiment of the Ohio National Guard from May 2, 1864, to September 8, 1864. Both of Private John Wesley Greenfield's two elder brothers also served voluntarily with the U. S. Army during the Civil War. (1) William Walter Greenfield (1833–1908) served in Company "H" of the 156th Infantry Regiment of the Ohio National Guard; and (2) Corporal Alfred Truman Greenfield (1836-1917) served as a volunteer with Company "C" of the 124th Regiment of Illinois Infantry. On November 21, 1878, in Wayne County, Indiana, Alfred Truman Greenfield wed Celia Ray. The couple is not known to have raised any children. * * * * * John Wesley Greenfield is not known ever to have married and resided during most of his long life in Milford Township of Butler County, Ohio. He died on March 16, 1927, at Somerville in Milford Township and was interred at Somerville Cemetery.
