He was born on Christmas Day 1915, to Fred and Frances Rothenbuehler, in Garretson, SD. He was baptized four days later. Jim was a part of a large family, having five brothers and three sisters. At the age of 17, he entered the United States Army and was later honorably discharged, after traveling all over Europe. Jim liked to tell the story of when he was in Europe and had to wear the same pair of socks and shoes for two months straight, leaving his feet looking like a war zone. Jim was a lineman at Burlington Northern and retired after 40 years of service. He had great memories of his wife of 69 years, Lucy. Jim and Lucy, in their earlier years, loved to go boating, travel all over in their motorhome, attend dances, in which they both loved and were good at, traveling to bowling tournaments all over the country, entertaining friends at their home and, most of all, just loved being together. Jim had two great passions, one of which was bowling. He was an icon in the bowling world, as he was the first bowler in Wenatchee to roll a perfect "300" game. He loved the sport and had so many friends that he enjoyed spending time with at "The Lanes." Jim was inducted into the Wenatchee Bowling Association Hall of Fame, a member of the 'Geritol' League and a member of the Wenatchee Bowling Association. His second passion was golfing. At the time of his passing, Jim was a member of the Leavenworth Golf Club. He was also a past member of the Three Lakes and Rock Island Golf Clubs. When he was in his 80's, he shot his age at least a dozen times! Jim made many friends over the years, not only golfing and bowling, but also being a member at the Wenatchee Valley Senior Center, the VFW, the Wenatchee Eagles and the American Legion. He will truly be missed. Survivors include his son, Terry (Barb) Rothenbuehler of Detroit Lakes, MN; Don (Rhonda) Bellinger of East Wenatchee, WA; granddaughter, Becky (Troy) Telander of West Fargo ND; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Lindsey Telander of West Fargo, ND; and special friends, Sam, Meredith and Trina Mead of East Wenatchee, WA, Tricia (Danny) Sapp of Entiat WA and Terra (Nathan) Matthews of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; his mother and father; and eight siblings.
