Description	:	LOUIS FRED FORBES Louis Fred Forbes had a homestead in Phillips County, Colorado. His sister, Mrs. Nellie Hughes, did housekeeping for him. His homestead was sold to C.C. Harte, father of the late Everett Harte. Fred was drafted in World War I. He took his training at Camp Kearney, California. Then, he was sent to France. Records from the War Department show that Private Louis F. Forbes #1,627,100, Company H, 110th Infantry was reported by the Commanding General as killed in action September 27, 1918 in France. He was the most universally liked man in our Company. The last time I remember seeing him was in the town of Montrichard, France, about July 20, 1918. An order had been issued that only certain articles of clothing would be allowed after leaving for the front. I saw him giving his surplus clothing to an old French man -- a street cleaner.
