Read More	Evening Times-Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa ~ 11 Dec 1918, Wed • Page 7 GILMAN SOLDIER DEAD Private Martin Hill of Tama County, Dies in France A message from the war department to Mrs. Anna Hill, of Highland Township, Tama county, three miles east of Gilman, brings the sad news of the death of her son, Private Martin Hill, in France on November 22. He died of pneumonia. He was 18 years of age and was born on March 15, 1901, in Highland township, where he had always lived. He went with a contingent from Toledo, on July 25, to Camp Gordon, Georgia, and went over seas in September, where he was assigned to Company K, 163rd infantry. His mother had received only one letter from him. Two other brothers are in service. One, Hans, is in Camp Johnson, Jacksonville, Florida, and Arthur is in service in France. Three other brothers, Alfred, Harold, and Bertram, live in Tama county, and a sister, Mrs. J. H. Huston, resides in Gilman. A half-sister, Miss Anna Hill, is in this city, and a half-brother, George Hill lives in Downer, Minnesota. Added 5 Oct 2021
