Kleihauer, 52, Akron world war veteran, who died at his home there Tuesday, were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the family home and at 2 o'clock from Trinity Lutheran church in Akron. Rev. J. A. Pannkuk officiated and burial was made in the Akron cemetery. The Akron American Legion post honored the deceased with a salute at the graveside. Martin William Kleihauer was born September 11, 1889, in Morrison, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kleihauer. When the deceased was eight years old he came with his parents to Plymouth county, Iowa, and it was in the Akron vicinity that he spent the rest of his earthly life. On April 27, 1918, he left home to answer the call of the colors and to defend his country during the World war. He received his basic training at Camp Dodge and sailed for France on June 29, 1918. He took an active part in the front line trenches at the battles of St. Mihiel and Argonne Muese. On October 29 he was wounded and confined to a hospital. His condition was very serious, for when peace was declared he was still hospitalized and remained a patient even when he returned to the United States on January 8, 1919 and up to March 20, 1919, when he was honorably discharged from the United States army. He leaves to mourn, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kleihauer; two sisters, Mrs, Paul Meske and Mrs Alfred Meske, and two bothers Henry and George Kleihauer, Le Mars Globe Post Monday, November 4, 1941 Le Mars, Iowa
