Max served in the Armed Forces as a young man. Later in life he worked in heavy construction throughout the United States. He was a member of local 598 plumbers and steamfitters in Pasco, Washington. In addition to enjoying his work, Max also was an avid reader and liked to travel. Max is survived by his wife Lillian of 63 years. They were wed in Billings, Montana September 14, 1952 in a double wedding. He is also survived by four children, Kathy Vetsch (Dick), Virginia West (John), Gene Benningfield (Shelley) of Yakima, Washington, Gordon Benningfield (Linnea) of Kennewick, Washington. There are 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Max has two surviving brothers, Roy Benningfield and Jay Benningfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rod Benningfield and Jim Benningfield. A memorial service will be held on February 3 at 11 o'clock at the Rainier Memorial Center, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr. in Yakima, Washington. Following the service there will be a luncheon provided in the adjoining hall. There will be a private family viewing from 9:30 to 10 and public viewing from 10 to 10:30 Wednesday morning.
