Description	:	Samuel served in the Confederate Army with Capt. J.J. Steele's Company. He was conscripted in March 1864 and was discharged at Sumter South Carolina on April 9, 1865. The very fact that Addie's pension application stated that Samuel Bradshaw was discharged from the service at Sumter, South Carolina on April 9, 1865. If the information on the application is accurate, it is possible that he fought at Dingle's Mill with Colonel Pressley. There would have been very little reason otherwise for him to have been in Sumter on that day. He survived the war and was married to Adelaide Johnson... There would have been very little reason otherwise for him to have been in Sumter on that day. He survived the war and was married to Adelaide Johnson Bradshaw on April 17, 1875. In 1884, he had accumulated 100 acres to farm near Turkey Creek in Williamsburg County. They had ten children. They were James B., Mary Ann, Maggie, Buford, Louis W., Willie L., Janie, Reuben (my grandfather), Enoch, and Sam Jr. His wife told the story of his death, "he got up during the midnight hour while the clock on the mantle of the fireplace was gonging, it appeared to continue without stop. At about the time Samuel approached the clock to stop it, he was struck with a fatal heart attack." The date was June 20, 1899. The graves of Samuel and Adelaide can be found in the Tisdale Cemetery within a half mile from their farm near Turkey Creek.
