Description	:	He was the son of Adam & Mary Beamguard. During the Civil War he enlisted in the 17th Regiment of the SCV, Co, F, Capt. J.W. Avery's Carolina Rifles, for a period of 12 months, as a private. He died at the hospital 5-12-1862, Camp Fillion, John's Island SC. He had been ill with Pneumonia & Typhoid fever. Obituary from the York Co, SC Death Notices 1823-1865, the 6-19-1862 edition: Died at Camp Pillow, John's Island, on the 12th of May, Mr. Samuel W. Beamguard, in the 26th year of his age.
