Description	:	STEVENS DIEHL RITES TODAY Funeral services for Stevens M. Diehl, 86, 100 W. Grimes Street, retired farmer, were held this afternoon at Nelson Boyulan Chapel with the Rev. Robert Ruleman officiating and burial in Emerson Cemetery. Mr. Diehl died Thursday, May 1, at Vista Gardens Nursing home after an extended illness. He had farmed most of his life in Montgomery County before retiring in 1968 and moving to Red Oak. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Diehl, he was born July 28, 1888 at Pomeroy, Ohio and was married in 1918 to Alice Asman, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Elvin of Red Oak, Scott of Orient, and Gilbert of Rockport, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Connell of Red Oak and Mrs. John reuben king of Los Angeles; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brother, Victor of Middleport, Ohio and sister, Mrs. Burt Pickett, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Diehl was a World War 1 Veteran and graveside military rites were conducted by personnel of Red Oak's 1169th Transportation Co. Light Medium Truck, and Iowa Army National Gard. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church. The family has suggested memorials for Iowa Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or First United Methodist Church.
