US CENSUS: 1850 Framingham, Middlesex, MA US CENSUS: 1860, 1870 Natick, Middlesex, MA US CENSUS: 1880 in Ashland, Middlesex, MA In 1853 Thomas and his brother-in-law Francis McGLONE witnessed the naturalization papers of Richard HOEY, Sr. Thomas HOEY US Naturalization 12 SEP 1856 Boston, Suffolk, MA On 1 AUG 1862 Thomas HOEY enlisted in the Union Army and was assigned to Co. I, 39th Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the same unit as brother Michael HOEY. On 12 May 1864 he was wounded at Laurel Hill, Virginia and on 18 Aug 1864 was taken prisoner at Weldon Railroad, Virginia. He was sent to Belle Isle in Richmond, where he was soon joined by brother Lawrence HOEY. In October the brothers, along with 7500 other prisoners, were sent to a Confederate prison camp at Salisbury, North Carolina, consisting of an abandoned cotton factory. Here Lawrence died of starvation in January 1865. However, Thomas survived and was exchanged on 10 MAR 1865. He was mustered out 2 JUN 1865. Marriage: Winifred Eliza McGLONE b: 1828 in Trim, Co.
