Walter Briggs Suggested Edit: Grave Details indicate he may not be buried here. He is. In June 1921, Walter’s remains were disinterred and prepared for a return home. On 21 June he left Antwerp, Belgium, aboard the US Army Transport Wheaton, and arrived in Hoboken, New Jersey, on 4 July. On the afternoon of 31 July, surrounded by his family and friends, Walter was laid to rest in Gaithersburg’s Forest Oak Cemetery. Briggs died of wounds received in action in Argonne, France. He was assigned to 313 Ambulance Company, 304th Sanitary Training.
