K.Follett, died very suddenly at his home north of town at about 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, May 22,1897. Since the accident that befell him on the 6th, he had gotten along famously. The theory of his physician as to the immediate cause of his death is that a thrombus, or tiny clot of blood, floating in the circulation caught in the valve of the heart and suddenly stopped the action of that organ. Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Tuesday, conducted by Rev. W. J. Watson, assisted by Rev. Mr. Walburn. The services were in immediate charge of Milton Summers Post G.A.R. of which the deceased was a charter member. Enlisted in Civil War Company B, Iowa 29th Infantry Regiment on 15 Nov 1862. Rank at enlistment as private. Mustered out on 10 Aug 1865 at New Orleans, LA. The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army who had served in the American Civil War. The GAR was among the first organized interest groups in American politics.
